Urbino is an Italian town of 14,927 inhabitants inhabitants, capital with Pesaro province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marches.
It was one of the most important centers of the Italian Renaissance, which fully preserves the architectural heritage. Since 1998, its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage.
Here we report the reasons for the inclusion of the historic center of Urbino World Heritage site:
"The criteria: During its short cultural pre-eminence, Urbino attracted some of the most famous humanists and artists of the Renaissance, who created an exceptional urban complex of remarkable homogeneity, the influence of which in Europe came away.
Criterion IV: Urbino represents a summit Renaissance art and architecture, is harmoniously adapted to the landscape and blends exceptionally well with pre-existing medieval. »
